Personal Hygiene Quiz:

Which season is the most important to take care of your personal hygiene?

  • Summer
  • Spring
  • Fall
  • Winter

If you said any of the above choices you’re wrong! Personal hygiene is something that you need to take care of no matter the season. I know with the Summer heat you may think that it’s the most important, but taking good care of your body is a yearlong job! Here are some things to look out for:

Brushing your teeth is super important, and should be done at least twice a day; brushing in the morning and before you go to bed is an easy way to keep track. Remember to brush, floss, and rinse with mouthwash; this will help to make your dentist appointments go by a lot easier. There are some mouthwashes that show you what you missed while brushing! Kind of gross, but really cool.

Regular Bathing:

Similar to your mouth, the body goes through a lot during the day. Sweat buildup, dirt, and smells are some of the things that effect your cleanliness. Getting in the habit of showering daily will help to keep you clean, and make you feel refreshed. Remember to clean everywhere on your body (yes, even feet)! This is your time to make sure your body, face, feet, hair, and private areas are soaped and rinsed. Have fun with it; come up with a playlist of your favorite songs to listen to.

If your body gets covered in dirt and sweat all day, just think about what all gets on your clothes! After school, before bed, and in the morning are all great times to change clothes. This much changing also means you need to keep track of your dirty clothes (before they start to stink – ew!). Use hampers and learn the process of doing laundry to better understand what goes in to keeping clothes clean. If it helps, ask your parents about how difficult things like stains, smells, sweat, dirt, etc. are to get out of clothes to better understand how important it is.

Bathroom Habits:

With school around the corner, cold and flu season is almost here. Make sure to wash your hand with soap and water every time you use the restroom, play outside, before and after eating or preparing food, playing with animals, using technology, and coughing or sneezing. Think of how often your hands are by your face or mouth in a day – gross, right? Washing your hands is one of the easiest things to do, and it’s one that will help you a lot.

Personal hygiene isn’t the most fun thing to talk about, but it’s super important. Take a look at the image below that shows some awesome tips. Think of a routine that will help with your hygiene, and don’t forget to have fun!
