A common New Year’s Resolution is to hunker down and lose the weight gained throughout the holiday season. A great way to set a goal for yourself is to participate in a 5K right out of the gate, time yourself, and train to do better in another race later in the year.
For residents of and around Augusta, Georgia, there is an opportunity heading your way at the end of January 2016.
Christ Church Health Clinic is hosting its 5th Annual Resolution Run 5K, which benefits underserved individuals in the local community by providing free healthcare screening services. Patients benefiting from the existence of the clinic range in age from children to seniors, and many suffer from acute or chronic ailments.
Donations raised as a result of the 5K go toward the purchase of medical supplies for the clinic, and receipts for tax exemption and non-profit donation are available upon request.
The race takes off at the Savannah Rapids Pavillion, 3300 Evans to Locks Road, Martinez, Ga, at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 23. Registration is available online by following this link: https://runsignup.com/Race/GA/Martinez/5thAnnualResolutionRun, and the cost to register is $20. If you register online, there is an additional fee of $2.50 with the potential of a lower registration charge if a group signs up.
Once you make it to the finish line, no matter how long it takes you to get there, bagels, fruit, snacks, and hot and cold beverages are provided for participants.
