Borger Nitrogen is a 24-7 manufacturing operation with various functional groups and schedules (Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety Health & Environment). The site manufactures ammonia and urea-based fertilizer products that support farmers throughout the midwest region and beyond.
Broger’s Nutrien facility was constructed in 1967 and they celebrated 50 years of operation with the community in 2018. The plant has grown to 120 full-time Nutrien employees over the last several years and also utilizes a wide variety of skilled contract labor from the local area. Numerous retirees and family members joined in the celebration with many involved in the original plant construction. Some of the current employees have over 40 years of service with the site and family ties to the operation that span 3 generations!
Borger is a small community, so there are a lot of activities outside of work that people get together for family fun on a regular basis. They have a golf league every Thursday, bowling events, softball and other activities that bring together spouses, children and grandchildren away from work. This year they hosted a company paid adventure at the Amarillo amusement park and everyone is looking forward to the annual holiday party in December.
The Texas panhandle boasts some of the hardest working people in the world with a strong sense of dedication to our Nutrien facility and coworkers. Borger has an extremely active safety culture and many of the new hires mention the commitment to safety as one of the most important reasons they decided to choose Nutrien for their career.
Borger Nutrien is recognized as the area leader for United Way and provides coaching and fun incentives to increase participation from other industries and businesses in the area. More than 30 Nutrien employees volunteered in 2019 on weekends to help build access ramps, repair fencing and perform other household repairs for families in the area that need extra support. They support a huge amount of other causes throughout the year, including school supply drives, youth outdoor programs, cancer support and research, emergency response organizations, and many others. Borger Nutrien is an active member of the Chamber of Commerce and supports annual community leadership programs that help make Borger an amazing place to work and raise a family.
