Lima, Ohio

Lima, Ohio is a city in and the county seat of Allen County, Ohio. Lima’s closest large cities are Dayton and Toledo both approximately 75 miles in distance. With the discovery of oil in Lima in the late 1800’s, the city became a part of the “Oil Boom of Northwest Ohio.” An interesting fact is that Lima oil lit the buildings of the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago. Another interesting fact in more recent years was that the Television Series Glee was set in fictional William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio. For a city that Nielsen Television research lists as the 2nd smallest viewing area in the state of Ohio, Lima calls home to many famous people. Pittsburgh Steeler Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, Al Jardine-founding member of The Beach Boys, Wrestler Al Snow, TV Commentator Bud Collins, and Actress Phyllis Diller all hail from Lima.
