Port of Point Lisas, Trinidad

Port of Point Lisas is located in central Trinidad and is its second major port. Its location between North and South America makes it an ideal port because it allows convenient connections to all major shipping routes.

Port of Point Lisas is the major hub for downstream energy sector in Trinidad and Tobago.  Steel mills, ammonia plants, methanol plants and a urea manufacturing plant are all located in Port of Point Lisas.

The island of Trinidad is very diverse.  Often Trinidad is referred to as “rainbow island” because the array of ethnicity, religion and culture. Trinidad is a popular area for music as they host numerous music festivals each year. Trinidad is credited for creating the steel pan which happens to be their national instrument.

The island of Trinidad remains economically stable because it is an oil rich country.  Oil, Natural gas, industry and agriculture all contribute to Trinidad’s diversified economy.

The island’s inhabitants include over 400 species of birds, 100 species of mammals and 92 species of reptiles.  Trinidad’s reptile population includes the largest species of snake in the world, the Green Anaconda.
