Now that the holiday season and parties are over, what’s the best way to use the leftovers?
1- Keep It Simple With Sandwiches for Lunch!
Any leftover holiday meats can be made into sandwiches, especially if you have leftover rolls. While this might not be the healthiest of options, it is the most effective and flexible way to make use of your leftover main course. If you want to spice things up, think about changing your sauce, adding cheese, or toasting your bread for an extra level of complexity!
2- Make A Savory Waffle Out of Leftover Stuffing
By combining a cup of stuffing with an egg, you can make delicious waffles for dinner. Rather than the usual sweet waffles for breakfast or dessert, savory waffles are a great main course for dinner. To make it even better, top with some leftover turkey or a fried egg! If you like maple syrup on your sweet waffles, consider adding gravy to your savory ones.
3- Use Your Leftover Mashed Potatoes for A Shepherd’s Pie
If you have a lot of leftover mashed potatoes, you could create a shepherd’s pie. This could also be a great use of roasted carrots or other vegetables you still have from a holiday meal. If you have enough of both, the only part of the recipe left to make is the meat at the bottom. Once you cook that, you’re already almost done!
4- Leftover Cranberry Sauce Has Many Uses
You might be in luck if you still have leftover cranberry sauce, there are many different options for you to pick from! You can mix it with dijon mustard to create elevated mustard (perfect for some of those sandwiches!) or use it as a filling for pastries. If you mix the cranberry sauce with some mayonnaise, orange zest, and garlic, you can make a cranberry aioli that is a perfect dipping sauce!
