5 Healthy Snacks to Power Your Workday

No matter what your work schedule is like, we’ve all experienced a moment when we lost focus because we were tired or hungry. With the right snacks planned for your workday, you can take care of both of those at once – no nap required!

What to look for in a workday snack

A lot of snack food that is on the market is often full of sugars and carbohydrates, which can give you a short burst of energy, but will leave you tired again very soon. The ideal snack foods contain fiber and protein, long term fuel for both our bodies and mind. You might not find them in the chip aisle, but healthy, brain-boosting snacks are easy to get.

5 Healthy Snacks for your workday

  • Mixed Nuts

Nuts are a great source of protein! Don’t overeat, though – they have a lot of calories. Just a handful will do the trick!

  • Apple

An apple a day keeps the yawns away! When you find your energy waning, a couple of bites of a fresh apple will perk you right back up again. Pair it with almond or peanut butter for some extra protein.

  • Granola Bars

Granola Bars bring together some serious “superfoods” full of nutrition and delicious flavors, all in one easy snack. You can even make your own! Combinations of dates, oats, various nuts, honey, and dried berries are endless. If you buy bars,  look for packs without a lot of preservative-type ingredients and added sugars.

  • Hard-Boiled Eggs

Hard-boiled eggs are filled with nutrients that our bodies need and our brains love! You can also prepare them for the whole week and take them to work with you. Sprinkle some salt and pepper to add a little spice if you want!

  • Hummus and Veggies

Hummus is a Mediterranean treat made out of blended chickpeas, which are loaded with protein. Dip your favorite vegetables in it – carrots, broccoli, celery, etc., and you’ve got yourself the perfect afternoon snack.
